What Kids Really Want From Their Summer (That Doesn’t Involve Screens or Boredom)
Summer 2025
Let’s be real—summer holidays always sound dreamy… until you're staring down five full weeks (and a couple of slightly odd ones at either end) wondering what on earth you're going to do with them.
Kids are off, you're juggling work/life/trying-to-remember-your-own-name—and somehow, you’re meant to make the holidays magical and manageable?
Here’s the thing: most kids will tell you they want screen time and snacks. But underneath that? They’re craving so much more.
Here’s what children actually want from their summer (even if they don’t say it out loud):
1. Adventure
And not just the big, dramatic kind. We’re talking everyday magic—digging up worms, spotting bugs, building something from nothing. This summer at Kiddo Club, we’re going full Garden Makeover Mode: growing seeds, transforming a blank patch of earth into a blooming, buzzing green space (and yes, probably getting muddy in the process).
It’s hands-on, outdoorsy, gloriously grubby fun. And it’s all happening right here.
2. Freedom to Be Themselves
No tests. No uniforms. No “sit down and be quiet.” Just space to explore, experiment, and express themselves. Whether that’s making giant bubbles, creating chalk murals on the pavement, or mixing the perfect shade of watercolour for a leaf print masterpiece.
They’re in charge of their day—and trust us, they rise to it.
3. To Feel Grown-Up (But Still Safe)
There’s something powerful about planting your own seed and watching it grow. Or making your own candle from scratch. Or choosing whether you want to spend your afternoon crafting tiny birds out of stones or mixing up homemade salt dough for a printmaking session.
At Kiddo Club, we give kids just enough responsibility to feel capable, and just enough structure to feel secure.
4. To Belong
Our groups are warm, welcoming, and built around the age and stage your child is at—whether they’re five and wide-eyed or edging toward Year 6 cool. They’ll meet new friends, build secret forts, team up for outdoor challenges, and share proud moments (and probably a few giggles).
5. To Try Cool Stuff They Don’t Get at School
Let’s be honest—most schools don’t offer plexiglass self-portraits, salt painting, giant group bubble experiments, or a make-your-own-garden-from-scratch project. Over the five weeks (and a bit!) of summer, we’re packing in creative arts, STEM adventures, group sports, and outdoor fun every single day.
Think candle-making. Think dried flower crafts. Think real harvests, real building, real mess, real pride.
6. To Have Actual, Proper, Laugh-Out-Loud Fun
Because that’s what holidays should feel like. We want kids to go home full of stories, smeared in chalk or compost, showing off their artwork or proudly telling you how many slugs they counted today. We want them happy-tired, not “I’ve-been-on-YouTube-for-eight-hours” tired.
Kiddo Club isn’t about passing the time. It’s about making the time count.
So if your child wants a summer packed with creativity, friendship, outdoor adventures, confidence-boosting moments and actual joy—you know where to find us.
